Creation Myth Paragraph
Many people say that humans are eager and intrigued to find explanations for how we were created and how our earth was created. Myths help us make sense of our world. Although there are thousands of myths, many myths are alike, despite the distance between the cultures. Many cultures have creation myths which are unique to their identity, but at the same time contain common explanation of how humans were created out of mud and clay, the explanation of natural phenomena, and the explanationof human suffering, death and humans. A very big common element in creation myths is the creation of humans out of mud and clay. In the Norse creation myth, humans are created out of mud and clay as well as in an African myth. Isn't it amazing that these cultures can have the same concept in their myth and yet be so far away without knowing each other existed. A second concept that appears in many myths is the explanation of natural phenomena. In the Nahutl creation myth, a Native American creation myth, and the Chinese Phan Ku myth both explain the reasons for weather and storms. Many people wonder why humans die and suffer. The answer is in both the Norse creation myth and the Chinese Phan Ku myth. All of these myths are so much in common, and what is amazing is that these cultures have never even seen each other or known each others existence and yet still have some common themes. Myths have endured for so long, and the reason for that is because people today still seek explanations.
